You did it!
After polishing up your résumé, taking interviews, and landing a job, it is now time to meet the team you’ll be working with.
At this point, you may wonder about the best method to get to know everyone and express your excitement to connect with the group. With just a few steps, you’ll be well on your way to sending out a perfect email introduction:
1. Start with your name & a quick greeting.
Since this is your first time speaking to them, a couple of sentences about yourself are needed. Keep it short and simple for maximum readability. To give an example, let’s pretend we are joining a tech startup…
Example:
“Dear Colleagues, my name is xxx, and I am the newest member of the software development department. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
2. Describe your background & qualifications.
Next up, feel free to mention your previous positions, college degrees, and any major projects you’ve contributed to. This provides a clear picture of your knowledge and specialty.
Example:
“With five years of experience in this field and a degree from X University, I am excited to bring my talents to the company. My expertise lies in mobile apps and UI design.”
3. Display a positive & friendly attitude.
This part is all about making a good first impression. Showing the new team that you have a cooperative mindset will set the tone going forward. Let them know you’re eager to learn!
Example:
“I have heard so much about how talented you all are, and I’ve been told the company culture is truly special. Let’s do our best and excel as a team!”
4. Wrap the message up & add final details.
The last paragraph is an excellent spot to include concluding info. For instance, you may wish to state your start date or give them your contact number. Remember to end on a cheerful note as well.
Example:
“My first day at the office will be Wednesday of next week. Also, please reach out to me at phone number whenever you need to. I look forward to meeting everyone in person! Best wishes,”
